 | Galley Bay Gives Support to Amazing Grace Efforts
Galley Bay hotel in it’s continued effort to assist with the work of the
Amazing Grace Foundation has recently made a donation of almost $10.000.
The donation was presented by Mr Britton Foreman General Manager and Ms.
Elaine Edwards Assistant Manager.
The management of Galley Bay indicated it was the Hotel’s pleasure to be
a part of the significant efforts the Foundation was making to assist
person’s with disabilities.
The Chairman of the Foundation Mr Clarence E Pilgrim indicated that this
is clearly a welcomed gift from a good corporate citizen.
He further indicated that one of the next steps that the foundation will
be working on is to promote the formulation of a national law for the
protection of persons with disabilities, based on the United Nations
Convention for Persons with disabilities.
Mr Pilgrim noted that Galley Bay sent a representative to one of the
workshop sessions as an indication of their support for this particular
effort.
He further indicated that The Amazing grace Foundation is presently on
an expansion drive to physically create a larger home, so that more
residents can be accommodated. Also included is the proposed expansion
of it’s other services which includes the laundry, early intervention
clinic, the Youth participation group, Thrift shop, Educational
Workshops Community outreach, internships etc
Mr Pilgrim said that there is a urgent need for persons interested in
pursuing a career in the care giving field or for those who simply wish
to volunteer, to come forward and assist with the work of the
organization. He said that this will increase the ability to serve more
persons through one of it’s areas of service.

 | Pentecostal Womens Ministry of St. John’s, Prays for
Amazing Grace Home
In a touching scene at the Amazing Grace Foundation
last weekend (Saturday), the St John’s Pentecostal Women’s Ministry
prayed vigorously for the the disabled residents of the Amazing Grace
home, and all of the persons served through it’s charitable work.
Amazing Grace is located on All Saints Road.
The ladies of faith included, Noeleche Jacobs, Violet
Davis, Gloria Thomas, Manetta Francis, Frederica Charles, Nekesha Issac
and Mrs Cabrall.

The representatives, after visiting with the residents
of the home, prayed for the continued work and operations of the home
and the expansion efforts.
Afterwards a donation of items were presented to the
Foundation, which was received by the President of the Amazing Grace
Foundation, Mr Clarence E Pilgrim.
Mr Pilgrim thanked the ladies for their special
prayers of blessings and their offer of continued tangible support.
He further indicated that the ground-breaking for the
expansion of the building will be taking place very shortly, so that it
can be completed in the shortest possible time. Mr Pilgrim said that
there is a waiting list, and even with the expansion, the newly
constructed home still will not be able to accommodate everyone on the
waiting list.
Mr Pilgrim said that the most serious cases on the
list will be given first preference. |

Free Vitamin Supplements for the Amazing Grace
Family
On Saturday, January 27th , Mr. Ron Millette & Mrs. Erika
Keller of Canada donated 6 months worth of nutritional
supplements to the Amazing Grace Foundation together with US
$500.00 dollars in cash.
The supplements were subsidized by www.mannarelief.org, a
non-denominational Christian Charity located in Dallas Texas.
Clarence E Pilgrim, Chairman of the Foundation, indicated that
the dietary requirements particularly for persons with
disabilities, is sometimes not given the kind of attention by
some care providers because of a lack of knowledge and/or a lack
of resources.
Mr Pilgrim said that there is a clear correlation between “food
balance” and “nutritional values”, which is essential to an
individual’s well being.
Mr Pilgrim said that the comprehensive and Integral
International Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the
rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities, adopted by the
UN General Assembly in December 2006, has provisions that
guaranteed persons with disabilities the same rights to free or
affordable health care as others.
He further said that for some time the Foundation has been
promoting the need and importance for a balanced diet, inclusive
of the use of quality nutritional supplements, where
appropriate.
Mr Pilgrim congratulated the initiative of Mrs Keller, for
taking positive steps to address this area of concern.
Mrs. Keller and Mr. Millette said they will continue to support
the Amazing Grace Foundation, and wish to encourage other
Canadians who either visit or reside in Antigua & Barbuda to
become involved.

 | Amazing Grace receives donation from the
Pentecostal Crusaders
The Pentecostal Crusaders recently made a donation of a washing machine
to the Amazing Grace Foundation. Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr
Clarence E Pilgrim expressed appreciation for the gift, and indicated
that this will be a much needed asset that will add to the development
of the laundry service.

The Pentecostal Crusaders is a semi-military organization attached to
the Pentecostal Assembly of the West Indies Antigua District. The
organization mainly caters for young people, teaching discipline,
various skills and God’s word.
The organization is very much aware of the community within which it
functions. It is with great pleasure that the leadership donates a
washing Machine to the Amazing Grace Foundation. Since the residence and
others served by the Foundation cannot come out on a weekly basis to our
camp meeting, we must find ways and means to reach and support them.
The Crusaders believe that the Amazing Grace Foundation concept is
extremely important to a developing society. Everyone should be included
and none forgotten. The more fortunate ones in the community must
support the less fortunate, and those that are less mobile and capable.
The Pentecostal Crusaders of Antigua & Barbuda will continue to support
The Amazing Grace Foundation and other needy institutions through our
twin island nation. |
 | Jewel of the Seas brings New Year’s Gifts to
Amazing Grace Foundation
The Jewel of the Sea’s crew came bearing gifts for the persons served by
the Amazing Grace Foundation.
Cruise Director Bobby Brown (3rd person from the left in the
photo), said it was a pleasure for the Jewel of the Seas to continue
it’s relationship with the Amazing Grace Foundation. Mr Brown praised
the efforts of the management and urged more volunteers to get involved.
He promised continued support for the home in a number of areas.
The crew of the Jewel of the Seas donated several boxes of sheets,
blankets, canned food and other items.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Clarence E Pilgrim, said that it
was very heartening to see that cruise ships like Jewel of the Seas,
have helped to heighten the awareness of the plight of persons with
disabilities. Mr Pilgrim thanked the crew for their present donation and
expressed gratitude for the longstanding relationship which has been
ongoing. He encouraged the crew of the ship to continue to help the
Foundation in it’s efforts. Mr Pilgrim indicated that the Foundation
plans to begin construction of additional rooms to the home for persons
with disabilities, in February 2006. Mr Pilgrim is also appealing to
persons who are interested in helping the construction effort to simply
donate one item like a concrete block, a sheet of plywood, galvanize
etc, which would go towards the “pool” of building materials.
According to the chairman, the government has given duty free
concessions, for the importation of building materials. |
 | Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer's wife visits
Amazing Grace Home for Person's with Disabilities
The Prime Minister's wife, Mrs Jacklyn Spencer, recently visited the
Amazing Grace Foundation.
Mrs Spencer made a donation to the home for persons with disabilities,
of a number of items including pampers.
She indicated that she was pleased to see the kind of service that the
Foundation is offering to the disabilities community and urges
individuals and businesses to come forward and assist the good work of
the Foundation.
Chairman of the Amazing Grace Foundation Mr Clarence E Pilgrim, in
accepting the donations, thanked the Prime Minister's wife for her visit
to see the operations of the home. He indicated that there is the hope
to expand the services of the Foundation in 2007, which includes the
physical expansion of the building to accommodate at least twice the
number of residents. He admitted that there is a substantial waiting
list for residency, from persons not only in Antigua, but also from
neighboring islands.
He further extended an invitation to all of the organizations
specializing in working with persons with disabilities and other
disadvantaged individuals, to come to the Annual Christmas Party, which
is being held on the lawn of the Foundation on the 19th of December 2006
beginning at 2:00pm. He went on to thank those persons and companies who
have pledged their support for the party and invites anyone interested
in making a donation to the party to indicate their interest at the
earliest time.
The Mission of the Amazing Grace Foundation is to promote and implement
caring policies and programs that would alleviate deprivation, adversity
and helplessness among vulnerable persons with "disabilities" in our
society. |
 | It is the pleasure of the Amazing Grace Foundation to
announce that our Annual Christmas Party will be held on the 19th of
December 2006, beginning at 2:00pm. The venue will be on the lawn of the
Amazing Grace Foundation, located in the Belmont area, just off All
Saints Road.
As usual our invitation extends primarily to persons with disabilities
from all over Antigua & Barbuda.
The Annual Christmas Party is a part of our effort to bring together not
only individuals who have disabilities to celebrate Christmas, but also
their families, friends, care providers and organisations who work in
this specific area.
We have been blessed to have had many good persons over the years who
have dedicated their time, energy and resources to it's success. To
these unsung heroes we say thank you!
As usual, if you wish to present a Christmas gift(s) to a particular
individual, family or for a particular disability, please let us know
early. If you wish to make a general contribution, then also contact us
as soon as possible.
This year we will have a number of personalities who will be attending
our party. Among them will be renowned singer Claudette Peters, who has
consented to pose for photographs and sign autographs. In addition Santa
Claus will be arriving later in the afternoon to distribute the
Christmas gifts, along with his elves.
We hope to make this a happy memorable day for everyone.
In order to make effective transportation and catering arrangements, we
would be grateful if persons who will be attending indicated this by
calling or emailling the Foundation on or before the 10th of December
2006. |
 | The Amazing Grace Foundation will be holding it's
first "Sound of Joy" Christmas Concert featuring all local performers in
song, dance and acting in December.
All individuals or groups who are interested in participating are asked
